Weekend Bliss

I was proud of myself this weekend. I had a truly amazing art day. My cous (only one my age) stopped by on her way home down south. We went to the Farmers' Market, the Arts Festival, Gil Gal Garden, a variety of random shops and breezed by an art exhibit at the Library. Not one complaint from Mel!! Kudos to you Melly.

I was most impressed on our journey to find a plant shop that sold massive palm trees. I would be safe to say palm trees don't grow naturally here so I think it's totally sweet that they sell them here. Some were a good 8/9 feet tall! The store was like a massive garage/warehouse that was enclosing a jungle! I know now where to go for all of my indoor plant needs.

Here's part of my art 'space' since I have no space for a separate studio. It's full of cool things that are constantly inspiring me. I bought a desk at IKEA that has a glass top full of "Love" in different languages. Off to the side is my easel and the walls are lined with Kylee originals. To think they might actually be worth something someday:D

because one can never get enough

By far my favorite place within Disneyland is the Haunted Mansion (New Orleans Square). I have yet to get some excellent ghost photos but I think that will happen when I move into my studio north of there in toon town (see previous post for explanation).

Here are some of my 'jazzed' photos...compliments of a weighty wide angle lense. So much for packing lightly on this trip.

D-Day

I love Disneyland. I am not an obsessive fanatic but I do cherish every time I visit. It really is one of the happiest places on earth. My chum Lauren played Cali hostess for the week as she chauffeured me around our favorite string of 'lands', the beach, malls and pools. Ha, gotta love California. I did realize upon my return from my little vacation that I was super glad I lived in Utah. I think I'm a bit spoiled to live in the neighborhood that I do and how easy it is for me to get all around the neighboring cities.

Here are some pics of our D-Day....among them a demonstration of my unbelievable strength that lies with in my pointer finger. Of course, Ariel wouldn't let us leave until she got some camera time on my sweet Nikon. I do have to work out my biceps  a bit because those weights were just to dog-gone heavy....sidewalk damage? Uh......Also I wanted to announce that I am looking into renting a small place in toon-town for my studio. I was really excited to see that they had some places available.......tragically I have to be a citizen to rent and I'm only legal in Utah.:S

the last of my battery power

Oh wow, so my battery power just bumped up from 22 to 39 percent...sweet. Anyhow, in case my computer decides to be temperamental, I'll hurry to post.

The 'carnival' photos are from a local park, very spur of the moment but I had the urge to go and get some new stuff to work with and I was really pleased with the results (as usual:D).  At the park my friend and I witnessed a young engaged couple 'frolicking'  in the setting sun...ahhh...ugg...one reason why I am now going to be very particular on what poses I allow in any future engagement shoots. I think I officially will EX out anything I particularly hate...so for all of those prospective Kylee Photography clients don't get your hopes up for 'frolicking'.  I refuse to put my name on what I think is cheezy...so sorry world. On a positive note, I have been inspired by my ward's bulletin. I wish I had access to the one particular photo because it was spectacularly original and gave the impression that the couple actually had fun together. Who'd have guessed that was even possible???  The happy couple was laughing as they kind of tango-ed down a street. The colors were intensely boosted and the whole photo was a bit blurred out which just added to the casual-ness of it. Anyhow, keep checking on the 'non frolicking' photo world of Kylee Jane. To be posted.....

The waterfall photo was taken somewhere magically hidden, and with no apparent name. Sorry, if you want details I can give you directions. I happen to be obsessed with water and I have always wanted to find a spot in utah that I could try out some different shutter speeds. Seriously, waterfalls are one of the coolest things to try fun photo functions out on.

Jane Austen

I wanted to pay tribute to one of my favorite authors, Jane Austen. I am currently reading Pride and Prejudice and I am almost finished....The other day I watched a new BBC version of "Persuasion", which is absolutely bittersweet and insanely intense to watch (as far as J.A. movies go). I am determined to one day go and tour through all of these places that these characters would have lived. Yeah I know the time difference is an issue, but I would still be able to get the essence of it all.

A friend of mine has always expressed interest in doing a 'Jane Austen' photo shoot because she had a killer dress that screamed to get out of her closet more often. So because I am on a J.A. high this week you get to see some photos. The greenish dress belongs to Anne and the cream one belongs to my mother. Sadly I have not dibbsed the girls to posing as any particular characters...other than themselves.

Surprizingly enough my fav photo of the cream dress is the B/W at top. I love how my friend manages to put on this completely different look on her face. If you compare the full front face shots to that B/W one you'll see a big difference. I thought it turned out pretty cool:D Thanks ladies!

Second Half

My apologies to the photos being in a poor order. Read the post just before this one for an explanation....heheh

Here's one half of my Chinese room:D I decided to paint my room about a week before I left. It took me a while to gather supplies and get some inspiration. Reading from right to left it says "Once upon a time....there was a little boy who didn't want to grow up". So as you can somewhat tell I mixed a bunch of fairytale/chinese things into it.

fav b/w locations

Here are some of my fav B/W from Beijing....ahh I'm a little homesick:D
